Whether you are a first-time applicant or have attended the Institute previously, we are excited to announce that this year's Institute will be six days long and will feature new content and experiences. Using promising practice and resources from national and local experts, you will create a Vision for STEM education tailored to your school community and an Action Plan to support implementation of this STEM Vision. The institute is designed for teams to attend.
Each context (e.g., District, School) will sign up as a team with a minimum of 1 administrator, 1 content expert (e.g., coach, team lead, specialist), and 2 practitioners (classroom teachers). However, a team may include up to six members. Only one application is required for a team. This is a two-year project. In Year Two, teams will implement their STEM Vision with the support of a consultant coach. All teams will meet for three half days during the second year to assess progress, discuss problems of practice, and revise action steps.
This professional learning opportunity requires teamwork between session days that is under the direction of the team administrator.
Substitutes for classroom teachers will be reimbursed for attendance at the USBE rate of $120 per day for a full day of professional learning.
During the STEM Institute each team will pursue the following objectives:
-Participate in professional learning related to the creation of effective STEM ecosystems
-Develop a STEM Vision for your school community
-Design an Action Plan for obtaining your STEM Vision that includes system supports
-Develop an Implementation Plan for your Action Plan
-Implement your Action plan (Year Two)
