Governance Lab (GovLab) is a GovTech startup incubator. Over the course of the semester, startup teams meet for weekly workshops, receive mentorship from industry-specific experts, and hone their pitch presentations. Startups in any government-adjacent field – healthcare, law, education, energy, climate, biotechnology, civics, legislative affairs, procurement, transportation, cybersecurity, defense, campaigns, immigration, regulation, etc. – are welcome to apply. At the end of the semester, teams pitch to a panel of venture capitalists in competition for a fast track to Xfund’s $100k Xperiment Stake, including a 1-on-1, in-person pitch to Sam Altman.
GovLab is composed of two pieces: the teams of startup founders that make up the cohort and the executive board that runs the incubator. Startup teams must have at least one current Harvard-student founder from the College or any of the graduate schools. All interested startups are encouraged to apply. Executive board applicants do not need any past experience (in GovLab nor VC). All interested in the world of startups and venture capital are encouraged to apply.
