1. For the time being, we are having to significantly increase our admissions bar for Trajan, since we lost ~90% of available desks for visitors.
2. We are working hard on resolving these capacity issues so we can resume normal operations of the long-term visitor program. We will also maintain a mailing list to keep people updated on changes to the Trajan House long-term visitor program. 3. Please feel free to apply for desk space, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee that there will be available space for the duration of your requested stay.
With occupancy and popularity of Trajan House increasing, we are planning to set up a structure where external individuals who work at Trajan will need to cover some of the costs of their stay at Trajan. Long-term visitors who apply via the desk application form don't currently need to cover any of the costs, but we wanted to let you know that this is likely to change in 2024. We expect that there is a chance that external users will need to pay (or source via funding) ~£700 per month. This is still in the early stages of implementation, and we will inform you of any such changes in advance.
When applying, please consider the following:
1. We have
limited desk space and can't offer a desk to everyone. This should not deter you from applying, but means there's a chance we won't accept your application.
2. When will we get back to you?
We are reviewing requests at the beginning of each month and aim to respond by the 5th of each month, please plan your visit accordingly. As we also reach out to references, there can be delays related to reference response times. If you need a faster response, please let us know in your application. However, we cannot guarantee a faster turnaround.
3. In absence of a response, do not arrive at the office, we will not give you access to the building.
4. We don't assign desks to individuals indefinitely or for exceptional lengths of time, so please specify your requested end date when applying. If you are interested in extending your stay, you will need to reapply using this form.
5. Who can work at Trajan House?
The office is only open to people who devote (or are willing to devote) a substantial portion of their lives to help steer our civilisation’s course around potential existential catastrophes or to other ways of improving the world effectively.
