The Fred Anness Award for the On-Bus Instructor of the Year is given in honor of longtime Pre-Service Instructor Fred Anness to the On-Bus Instructor of the Year as judged by the OAPT Officers. It is the intent of this award to recognize on-bus instructors who exhibit outstanding leadership and professional conduct in the school transportation field, both in the district they represent as well as in the State of Ohio. The award also recognizes on-bus instructors who have contributed to the advancement of pupil transportation as a profession.
Criteria - To be eligible, the following criteria must be met:
* Nominee must be employed as on On-Bus Instructor three (3) years preceding the date of the application.* Nominee must have no at-fault accidents in any vehicle for a period of three (3) years preceding the date of the application. This involves any accident in which the driver is considered to be at fault regardless of whether a citation is issued or not.* Nominee must have no moving violation in any vehicle for a period of three (3) years preceding the date of the application.* Nominee must have an outstanding record of attendance for a period of three (3) years preceding the date of the application.* Nominee must demonstrate the ability to teach adults in a thorough manner that will allow them to successfully obtain a Pre-Service School Bus Driver Certificate.* Nominee must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of equipment, safety laws, and local policy.* Nominee must show participation in continuing education through professional development opportunities.* Nominee's participation as a K-3 safety trainer is preferred.* Nominee's involvement in Regional Road-E-O is preferred.* Nominee's involvement in Community or Civic activities or organizations is preferred.

* Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Business Manager* Transportation Supervisor* A fellow On-Bus Instructor* ODE Staff
Letters of recommendation are not needed from everyone listed above, but will be accepted. A complete resume and background for the nominee is required. File submission is at the bottom of this nomination form.
