OLD PFTP Board of Directors Application
Thank you for your interest in joining Portland Fruit Tree Project’s Board of Directors. PFTP is a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to increase equitable access to healthful food and strengthen communities by empowering neighbors to share in the harvest and care of urban fruit trees. A Board of strong community leaders willing to volunteer their time, ideas, and networks is essential to sustaining the organization. Board members are responsible for governing the organization and working with the staff to support day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include fundraising, strategic planning, financial oversight, organizational development, and community relations.
--The Board meets once per month and all members are expected to attend. Board meetings are currently held virtually on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. We intend to move back to in-person meetings when the Board feels ready to do so. It may be possible to change the day or time if necessary to accommodate incoming members’ schedules.
--Board members are also expected to attend one Sub-Committee Meeting per month.
--In addition to monthly meetings, members spend time planning and coordinating various aspects of the organization.
--Board members are expected to support the organization financially, in whatever amount is meaningful.
--Board term is two years and this is a volunteer position.
We are looking for Board Members with experience in any of the following priority areas:
*Leading equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives with nonprofit Board and staff
*Cultivating partnerships with culturally specific organizations
*Advancing racial equity in the community
*Deep connections to Portland and knowledge of Portland history
*Grant Writing
*Graphic design
*Cultivating financial sustainability
*Development and Fundraising
*Nonprofit management
*Participation in past PFTP events
