Topic: Taking initiatives & Bridging the gap: France contributions to face main global challenges.
Abstract:
Over the last decade, France has taken the lead in promoting initiatives that aim to learn lessons from the recent crisis and to create multi-actors coalitions in order to build momentum and to offer solutions while strengthening the multilateral system. Whether it be about climate, biodiversity, global health, food security, gender equality and governance, global challenges require global answers. In the current context of increased tensions and attacks against multilateralism, France is standing for a partnership and inclusive approach that builds action coalitions around shared values and objectives. For instance, the Paris Pact for People and the Planet forged at the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact in Paris in June 2023, established 4 main principles for a more effective international finance policy to assist the most vulnerable countries amid crises and climate transition challenges. Mr Jean-Sébastien Conty, Deputy Director for Global Affairs of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs will present France’s main priorities regarding global affairs and the method to address them.
