DevIgntion 2013 Call for Presentations

Submit your presentation proposal to DevIgnition, the Mid-Atlantic's Emerging Technology conference!

DevIgnition will be held at the amazing AOL Headquarters conference center, a fantastic venue, on Friday, Dec 6th 2013. We expect a sold out audience of 200 developers, just like each of our four previous years. So this is a great opportunity to reach a large a influential audience of DC/Baltimore area software developers.

We'd like our presentations to be 30 minutes long, including time for questions and discussion. But if you think otherwise for your presentation (longer or shorter), let us know what you want and convince us.

The scope of talks includes a broad area, anything of interest our audience, as long as it is in the realm of Emerging Technology. Keep in mind that our audience will be members of the software developers community. Your presentation should appeal to them. Fun topics are encouraged, so please feel free to be creative. Also, this is a conference for everyone, so beginner topics are welcomed, too.

Proposals containing marketing-based content will be rejected. Our attendees are mostly software engineers and are practicing developers. They want to be entertained and learn from your presentation. An overt sales pitch will not get the reaction you want from our audience.

Submit as many proposals as you like. Panels or multiple presenter proposals are fine with us. All of the accepted presenters will receive a free ticket. Since this is a very inexpensive, community conference, we do not reimburse some travel expenses. However, if your company is willing to pay for your travel, then we would be glad to give them credit in the form of a sponsorship.

We welcome proposals from everyone, and will evaluate each proposal on it own merits, regardless of the speaker's ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc. We strive to be encouraging and inclusive of everyone in our community. Therefore, we expect all of our attendees, speakers included, to follow our code of conduct. See http://www.devignition.com/conduct/index.html for the complete description of the code of conduct.

We plan to record all the presentations, and make the videos available online for free. If this isn't OK, that's fine with us, just please mention it in the submission (in the Message to Reviewers section).

Please submit your proposal by 11:59:59 PM ET on Tues November 19th, 2013. We reserve the right to accept and announce a few (or even many) talks before that time.

If your presentation is accepted we ask you to consider NOT presenting it in the greater DC/Baltimore area in the weeks just prior to DevIgnition. Doing so might help you prepare, but it will lessen interest in your presentation at the conference, something you probably don't want to do. Presenting a different presentation or a short version is fine, and in fact is encouraged (especially if you mention us!).

If you have any questions, please email us at devignition at gmail dot com. Your presentation is important to us. We want to help you make it great.
