Rotary International is the world's oldest and most highly respected service organization. Its motto is "Service Above Self". Each year, the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach Sunset sponsors two $1,000 "Service Above Self" scholarships (SASS) to the top student applicant from both Ponte Vera and Allen D. Nease High Schools.
SASS applicants must be: involved in community service/volunteer work; currently enrolled as a junior or senior at Ponte Vedra or Allen D. Nease High Schools; in good academic standing; and planning to attend a two or four year college or university, or a technical or trade school with a one year or longer program of study. Immediate relatives of Rotarians are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Applicants must complete and submit an online application which includes an essay. In addition, they must also mail their high school transcripts and two letters of recommendation to the scholarship chair. Deadline for receipt of the complete application package (online application & mailed portions) is March 14, 2019. Scholarship winners will be notified by April 15, 2019. At a later date, the scholarship winners will receive their scholarships and also share their scholarship essays with club, family, and community members during a meeting of the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach Sunset.
