Human Rights Review Symposium Series: Women's Marriage Rights in Pakistan

The Human Rights Review Symposium Series is an initiative that aims to promote discussion, challenge thinking and promote discourse on human rights in Pakistan. To launch the HRR Symposium Series, the Centre for Human Rights and Universal College Lahore are hosting the first Symposium on Women’s Marriage Rights in Pakistan on 9th and 10th November 2022. The Symposium will take place in Lahore and some parts of the event will be accessible to virtual participants as well.

The first thematic symposium aims to provide a platform for knowledge-sharing on various legal issues pertaining to women’s marriage rights in Pakistan. The symposium also provides a safe space to engage with the generic understanding of marriage rights as dictated by socio-cultural norms across Pakistan. The event will act as a catalyst to bring together a variety of stakeholders to participate in meaningful exchange on realities surrounding marriage rights, challenges and barriers, and the way forward for women in Pakistan.
