Digital Promise (an independent, nonpartisan education non-profit), with support of OER Project (an educational initiative funded by Gates Ventures that develops free and high-quality curriculum for K-12 schools), is currently planning an evaluation study of the World History Project curriculum (
www.oerproject.com/World-History) for the 2022-2023 school year. In particular, we ask the following research question: Does World History Project produce more student engagement and learning benefits than conventional world history courses do?
We are seeking volunteer teachers of 9th or 10th grade world history classes in public schools to participate in the study. Specifically, we seek teachers who have not already used the World History Project as their main curriculum and who do not exclusively teach AP or IB World History.
Teachers who commit to the study would agree to be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One of the teacher groups will continue teaching with their current curriculum (i.e., business as usual), while the other group of teachers will commit to using the World History Project curriculum in the 2022-2023 school year. All participating teachers in both groups would complete a beginning and end of year survey, share a beginning and end of year survey, and share a small sample of teacher lessons and de-identified student work. Participating teachers will also have the option to volunteer to participate in a case study. A stipend will be provided to all participating teachers in acknowledgement of the time they invest in these data collection activities.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the form below. Your name and contact information will only be used to contact you about this opportunity and will not be shared with any outside party. If you meet the criteria for participation, we will reach out to you with an invitation to attend an informational meeting.
