I am completing research estimating the cost (rough, rough ballpark) of recovering the Monarch Butterfly in the Midwest. In my official role at the Environmental Defense Fund, I have been asked to estimate (rough ballpark) the costs of recovering the monarch in the north core focus area. The purpose of this is both to drive awareness of how big this problem is (through publications, blogs, etc.) and to guide EDF in how we can best support all work on this species.
Although I've done quite a bit of investigation as to costs for seed and applied practices, I feel I still have a limited picture. After several conversations at last week's MJV meeting in Nebraska City, I heard a wide range of costs.
I would like to better account for this variation in costs in my final research product (a manuscript I hope to publish soon).
