Charlotte Mason reminds us that we "sow a habit, reap a character!" She also insisted that students in her Cottage Schools be consistently growing in primary habit areas.
We are committed to our B&V "OATH" (obedience, attentiveness, truthfulness, and humility) habit formation.
Please take a moment to briefly reflect on your child and his/her habits/character in the following categories and help us understand your assessment of their next steps.
OBEDIENCE: willingness to listen to directives and follow through promptly, cheerfully, and carefully.
ATTENTIVENESS: willingness to turn the whole force of the mind to the subject or speaker at hand; the fixed gaze of the mind; attention should be full and undivided as opposed to scattered or distracted.
TRUTHFULNESS: aligning thoughts, words, and actions in accordance with fact and reality; integrity and moral responsibility; resisting false-hoods, exaggerations, slander, deception and self-deception.
HUMILITY: eager and engaged readiness to receive knowledge without resistance or passive compliance; an honest and balanced understanding of oneself - cheerfully acknowledging both strengths, limitations, and next steps without self-importance, self-loathing, false modesty, or exerting dominance/superiority over adults or peers; giving deference to God and others in service and love.
