PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTRATION:
This form is for parents interested in submitting their information to participate in the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System's 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This program is for ages zero (0) to five (5), and inspires parents to promote a love and enjoyment of reading before children become of age for entering kindergarten.
This program operates on the honor system, with parents logging every 100 books read with the CLPLS "Log Progress" Form. Parents are asked to submit book titles read with/to their child. Books can be duplicated and any and all books are eligible for submission, regardless of who reads with the child participant.
Upon reading the first 100 books, participants receive their 1BBK Book Tree Leaf, located on the wall next to the play area at the downtown Columbus branch library. For every 100 books after and until 1,000 books have been reached, children are awarded a prize and a star on their reading leaf. When the participants have completed the program and read 1,000 books, parents and the child participating both receive rewards for their hard work!
For further questions, participants can email Tori, Children's Librarian, at tori@lowndes.lib.ms.us or call the library at 662-329-5300.
