Swarthmore College Stop the Sale of Sabra!
As an institution that frequently cites its commitment to civic and social responsibility, Swarthmore College must stop the sale of all Sabra products, currently available at Kohlberg Coffee Bar, Sci Center Coffee Bar, and Essie Mae’s.

Sabra Hummus is owned by the Strauss Group, a multinational corporation that invests in, funds, and even sends care packages to the Golani Brigade of the Israeli armed forces. Even by the abysmal human rights standards of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), the Golani brigade is particularly brutal: since its inception, the Brigade has carried out countless human rights violations against Palestinians in Hebron, including arbitrary murders, assaults, incarcerations, evictions, and arrests of children. Furthermore, the Brigade’s existence as an occupying force violates international law: Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, the construction of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, and its 1967 annexation of East Jerusalem are all illegal according to the United Nations.

It is morally unacceptable that Swarthmore should continue to support the international human rights violations of the Golani Brigade and Israeli Apartheid at large. By selling Sabra, Swarthmore is an accessory to the occupation of Palestine.

We call upon President Smith to affirm the dignity of Palestinian life, recognize the illegal occupation of Palestinian land, and de-shelve all current Sabra products and end their future sale at Swarthmore College.

In solidarity,
The undersigned members of the Swarthmore community
