Sign up for Maryland and DC Climate in the Pulpits / in the Minbar / on the Bimah
This fall, through Interfaith Power & Light (DC.MD.NoVA), pastors, rabbis, imams, and other clergy in congregations across the region will be raising up Creation care and climate justice as part of their addresses at weekly services and through other learning programs.
Across Maryland and DC, faith communities will invite congregants to turn away from burning — learning, acting, and speaking out for an end to burning all fossil fuels, including methane gas, in our homes and communities.
Maryland and DC congregations are invited to participate on or around November 12-14th, or any time this fall.
Sign up here to commit your congregation to raising up climate justice and to begin turning away from burning. You are invited to participate in a way that best fits your community. In addition to speaking from the pulpit, this could include inviting a guest speaker, showing a film, hosting a virtual coffee hour discussion. In partnership with Barbara Briggs from the Friends Meeting of Washington, we can schedule a hands-on workshop for your community to identify gas leaks in the immediate neighborhood of your congregation.
Request mailed materials prior to Friday October 29th, or two weeks before your congregation plans to participate. All congregations that sign up will receive a download link for ready-to-use resources, including bulletin inserts and sermon helpers, designed to be used for in-person, online, or hyrbrid gatherings.
