St. Clair County Chapter. In 2014, SOSPC, launched the first annual Sharing Our Stories interactive, One-Stop-Shop-event emphasizing the connection between mental and physical wellness for today’s youth. Our events, held in East St. Louis and in Belleville, IL were presented free of charge to all attendees. In the past two years, our events have grown from just over 150 to over 250 people involved at our most recent events.
The upcoming April 8, 2017 event, Sharing Our Stories: Connecting the Mind and the Body, targets youth sixth grade and up and their parents (and adults in their lives) and will be an interactive educational forum featuring presentations and breakout sessions by mental health and social service professionals, youth service providers and our keynote speaker, Jason Davis. The event will be held at Wyvetter Younge Middle School at 3939 Caseyville Avenue, East St. Louis, IL. As we move forward with the upcoming event, we are seeking support from local agencies and organizations to help us make our next event an even greater success. It is our hope that you will rejoin our efforts to increase mental health and wellness awareness in order to encourage and support mentally, physically and emotionally healthy individuals and families. By working collaboratively, we can begin to promote the connection between mental and physical health and connect attendees to local and national resources.
