Open Call Architectural Space-Time Matters
open call for experimental video works that explore intersections of architecture and space time mattering. What are the material discursive practices that construct and entangle meaning in the spaces and places we inhabit? What do architectural frameworks look like if they are not fixed but real-time? What are the pedagogical actions sedimented in an architectural deep time? How are these disrupted and folded into the now?
Open call ends Oct 25th, 2020. Online exhibition opens Nov. 6th-Dec. 6th on Diffractive Media Space (
) a White Page Gallery that focuses on experimental media art specifically engaging diffractive vs representational approaches to moving images and arts based research. All works curated by Eric Souther. Video works will only be publicly available during the set dates above, then be replaced with still images, unless permission is given by the artist to keep the work visible in the archive.
"Diffraction does not produce ‘the same’ displaced, as reflection and refraction do. Diffraction is a mapping of interference, not of replication, reflection, or reproduction. A diffraction pattern does not map where differences appear, but rather maps where the effects of differences appear.” - Donna J. Haraway
The history of the video art genera signal processing utilizes the diffractive lens of technology to investigate alternative ways of seeing and making. Work found here are kin to these histories and practices.
