By December 2015, the 3rd anniversary of the Newtown shootings, more than 90,000 Americans nationwide will have died from guns. We must continue to shed a light on the epidemic of gun violence in our nation until these gun deaths are reduced. The Newtown Foundation, the charitable arm of the Newtown Action Alliance, in partnership with St Marks Episcopal Church and Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence will host a 3rd annual national vigil service of mourning and loving remembrance for all who have fallen victim to the ongoing epidemic of gun violence in America on December 9th in Washington D.C at 7:00pm, near the 3rd anniversary date of the Sandy Hook tragedy.
The National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence will be the anchor event to kickoff the 50-State Vigils/Events. We are looking for faith organizations and/or gun violence prevention groups to hold a local vigil or event in each of the 50 states from December 10-14th to continue to raise awareness and to keep this issue front and center. Last year, approximately 275 local events were held in 39 states, Washington DC and in Mexico.
Please join our national event and stand with all the families of victims of gun violence, survivors and advocates to honor all Americans affected by gun violence by sponsoring a local vigil or event in your town or city.
If you have not signed up on the Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence registration link, please sign up here to host a vigil or event in your town or city and we will send you a Vigil Tool Kit to facilitate your planning, media outreach and social media campaign to raise awareness.
