2025 Certified Soil Tester Training (and refresher/continuing education)

Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) and the Conservation Professional Training Program, UW-Madison-Extension are proud to announce the Spring 2025 POWTS (Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems) Certified Soil Tester (CST) Training.

Offered April 30-May 1 at the River Doc Nature Center, 1814  23 1/2 Avenue, Rice Lake, WI, this 2-day training is for people who want to learn more about performing soil and site evaluations for POWTS in Wisconsin. It is an excellent course to take if you are preparing for your CST exam. 12 continuing education credit hours will be available to those attendees with a current CST credential. Please note that this course is not approved for continuing education credit hours for plumbing credentials (Inspector, Plumber, Maintainer).

This in-person training include both classroom and field components, with ample opportunity for hands-on soils activities in both classroom and soil pits in the field. The field components are a short drive from the classroom location, and planned for the afternoon of the 2nd day (subject to change based on weather conditions and forecast).

The early registration fee ($50 by check or $51.50 if paid by credit card) includes the training, handouts and lunch each day.  The training runs 9 am-4 pm on the first day and 8 am-3 pm on the second day. Registrations received after noon on Thursday, April 24 will be $60 check or $61.80 credit/debit card.

If more than one person from your business is attending, a separate form is required, but the fee can be paid after the final registration is submitted.

NOTE: Use the address (1814 23 1/2 Avenue, Rice Lake, WI) and not google to search for River Doc - there are other locations (trail heads, etc) that will show up on online maps.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, and you will receive a confirmation email within two hours (if you do not receive the email, or this form does not work for you, please reach out to kevin.erb@wisc.edu or call 920-391-4652 to confirm registration was received).  An invoice with request for payment will follow within three business days
