The D.C. Farm to School Network is working with school point people (parents, teachers, staff) to coordinate “Where Food Comes From” tables in about 30 school cafeterias for the event. We are looking for volunteers to be stationed at these tables and demonstrate to students where strawberries and salad greens come from. Each table will need two volunteers, in addition to the school contact person coordinating the table.
The D.C. Farm to School Network will match volunteers with schools, introduce them to the school contact person, host a brief mandatory volunteer training, and provide all of the materials for the table, such as pictures, stickers, maps, and live plants.
Volunteers will be responsible for attending the mandatory training, working collaboratively with the school contact person, helping to set up the table at the school, engaging with students during the lunch periods on May 25th, and helping to clean up the table. The mandatory training will take place on Thursday May 19th from 6-7pm (metro-accessible location TBA) where volunteers will meet their school contacts. Volunteers will be expected to set up, be at the table, and clean up from approximately 10:30am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 25th at your assigned school.
Please fill out the following form by Sunday, May 8th so we can place you at a school. You will be able to indicate your preferences about where and with whom you’ll be placed.
