This scholarship will cover your costs for attending the conference including registration, hotel, and associated travel expenses. The conference is presently scheduled for February 5-8, 2014 in Seattle, WA.

We simply ask that you agree to assist us in our efforts in recruiting applicants for the XSEDE Scholars' Cohort 4 (this year's class) by spending a little time (an hour or less) at the XSEDE table/booth at the conference and/or sharing stories about your experience with potential applicants over coffee or lunch.

APPLICATION DEADLINE, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. (CST). Notification of Awards will be announced on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. (CST). Acceptance of award must be provided by Friday, December 13, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. (CST).

Eligibility: (1) U.S. Citizens and permanent residents of the United States or its territories, (2) currently attending U.S. institutions, and (3) underrepresented minorities and women in the computational science (computer science, applied mathematics, high performance computing applications) and all areas of engineering, and (4) participant in XSEDE Scholars Program (Cohort 1, Cohort 2, or Cohort 3).

The goal of the Tapia Conferences is to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and professionals in computing from all backgrounds and ethnicities to:

•Celebrate the diversity that exists in computing;
•Connect with others with common backgrounds, ethnicities, disabilities, and gender so as to create communities that extend beyond the conference;
•Obtain advice from and make contacts with computing leaders in academia and industry;
•Be inspired by great presentations and conversations with leaders with common backgrounds.

This year’s conference theme is “The Strength of Diversity” as the Tapia Conference celebrates the contributions to computing by members of broad and diverse communities.
