Students are unable to self-register for Barnard creative writing courses. Interested students who have submitted writing samples may put the course on their online schedule, which will automatically place them on the wait list. If they are accepted, the professor will take them off the wait list, but until that time no one is officially registered for the class.
Please fill out this cover sheet and attach your writing sample. For the spring 2019 semester, writing samples are due by 11:59pm January 7, 2019. Submissions will not be evaluated before the deadline. Please choose up to three writing courses to which you'd like to apply. If you have any further questions, please contact Drew Fellow of Creative Writing Nia Judelson at email@example.com
Writing Sample Guidelines:
* Writing samples should be creative and appropriate to the courses requested: 4-6 pages of fiction or personal narrative for prose writing courses, 3-4 pages of poetry for poetry writing, a scene or short story with dialogue for playwriting.
*If submitting to courses of different genres, please provide a separate writing sample for each type of course. For example, if applying to 2 prose courses and 1 poetry course, please submit one writing sample of prose, and another of poetry. Each sample should be submitted as a separate document in this form. File names should reflect the genre each sample is a submission for.
* Samples should be neat, typed, and double-spaced.
* Samples should not be expository or primarily analytical. No genre fiction (e.g., fantasy, zombies, YA, etc.), please.
