Web4All Hackathon 2019
The 2019 Web4All Hackathon will take place May 15th-16th at the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco. It is hosted by the DIAGRAM Center and PEAT, and sponsored by Microsoft.
The DIAGRAM Center is a Benetech initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs that creates tools, standards, and best practices to support students with disabilities and learning differences. We engage a diverse community of stakeholders to develop new technologies and resources that meet the needs and preferences of differently-abled students.
The Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT) is a multi-faceted initiative to foster collaboration and action around accessible technology in the workplace. Guided by a consortium of policy and technology leaders, PEAT works to help employers, IT companies, and others to understand why it pays to build and buy accessible technology, and how to do so. PEAT is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).
Although we'll be focused on making learning module more accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities, technical experience is not necessary to participate. In addition to coders, we welcome persons with disabilities, teachers, advocates, designers, vocational rehab and workforce specialists, and other experts to help us create new educational technologies or enhance existing ones. If you are interested in joining us, please take a few minutes to RSVP and help us better plan this event for all participants. Food and beverages during the event will be provided, which includes breakfast and lunch both days as well as dinner on Wednesday. The event has limited space so this survey won't guarantee you a spot in the Hackathon, preference will be given to those who can attend both days. (Agenda found here
The deadline to fill this out is May 3rd and we will confirm attendees on May 7th.
This is intended to be an accessible survey. If you encounter any issues, please reach out to us so we can help resolve the issue.
