Sharing ideas between departments

Following this weeks departmental Digital Literacy planning meeting, please can you take a few minutes to complete the form below sharing how your department intends to integrate some of the tools / apps covered into your Year 7 schemes of work.

Your ideas can then be shared with other departments in order to generate discussion and inspiration for possible use in their own areas.

It is hoped that over the course of this year, each departments collated responses will provide a compendium of ideas on how iPads and various Apps can be used in our classrooms across the 5 main session areas.

The spreadsheet containing all of our responses will be linked on the Teaching & Learning blog to make it easily accessible to all members of staff.

    Your ideas

Please try to be as specific as possible with regards to the app and activity that you are sharing. The greater the detail, the more helpful it will be to other departments. Examples: Using Youtube, we will ask students to listen to Neville Chamberlain's declaration of war on Germany in 1939. We will ask students to imagine that they are a news reporter for BBC radio at this time. Using the Audioboo app, they will create a short radio news report announcing this monumental event and describe the factors that built up to it. They will upload the podcast to their Google Drive and share it with their teacher. Students will use the internet to research the main causes of urbanisation . Using the iThoughts app, they will then be required to produce a mind map outlining the factors that they feel have contributed to the urbanisation and growth of Bangkok over the last 20 years. Using the Apps built in Share feature, they will then share and compare their mind maps with other students in their class to identify common points, and any points they have omitted from their own maps.
