Introduction to Canvas
New to Canvas? After an overview of Canvas environment and the global navigation options, you will explore the course navigation menu and individual components that are used to deliver content and assess student performance. You will learn how to customize your course Home page, create Announcements, upload files, use the rich content editor to create content, adjust course settings and publish your course so it is available to students. Prerequisites: Canvas username/password and completion of Modules 1-3 of Canvas Faculty Orientation course. Instructor: Jane Tutein
Assignments and Grading in Canvas
In Canvas, "Assignments" refer to any scored student work--online submitted assignments, unsubmitted activities, scored discussion, or even quizzes. In this session, you will learn how to create different types of assignments, group assignments to make grade weighting easier, and use the Gradebook and SpeedGrader to quickly score student work. Prerequisite: Introduction to Canvas. Instructor: Jane Tutein
Screencasting Basics
Learn the basics of “screencasting”, recording videos of action taking place on your screen. We will look at the workflow of creating a screencast, adding closed captions, and uploading it to YuJa to be viewable in Canvas. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis

Are you ready to go beyond standard PowerPoint presentations? Engage your students with tools that let them ask anonymous questions during a lecture, or embed online questions in your slides to check for understanding. We will explore Google Slides Q&A, Nearpod, and Socrative. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Classroom Assessment Tools
Engage students while assessing their learning using online polls, knowledge-check questions, exit tickets, and quiz games. In this session, we will review free digital tools and apps, discuss practical uses in the classroom, and get hands-on experience with Google Forms, Poll Everywhere, and Kahoot. iPad Training from Apple
Sue Burch, our Apple training consultant will be on campus for the day providing a blend of training on iPad basics, classroom integration, and 1:1 subject-specific consulting. This training is designed for faculty who are part of the iPad initiative. Instructor: Sue Burch
Making the Most of YuJa - our media server
This session will introduce users to the school’s media server system: YuJa. We will cover the basics of the system including how it integrates with Canvas LMS. You will learn how YuJa can automatically add captions to any video. Participants are encouraged to bring a video that they would like to add to YuJa. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
