Board and Committee Member Application
Thank you for your interest in Discovery Routes. The Board of Directors advances Discovery Routes charitable mission to invest in partnerships for the development and promotion of sustainable trails and active transportation systems throughout the Near North and Almaguin Highlands.  

Discovery Routes is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of not less than five and no more than 15 Directors, elected by the Discovery Routes membership at the time of the Annual Meeting each year. Meetings are scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month (with the exception of July/ Aug) at 5PM and can be attended virtually or in-person at the Discovery Routes offices on Main Street in North Bay. Directors serve for a one-year term.

Board members act in a position of trust for the community and are responsible for the effective governance and leadership of Discovery Routes. Board members are informed on organization matters and participate in board discussions and decisions in matters of policy, finance, programs, fundraising and advocacy. An ongoing priority for the board is to build sustainability for Discovery Routes' future and support the volunteer trail sector. Committee members for our new Fund Development Committee are also needed.

Candidates for the Board of Directors are elected by the membership each year at the time of the Annual Meeting. The 2023 Discovery Routes Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 5PM virtually over zoom and in-person at Corbeil Park Hall, 392 Hwy 94, Corbeil.
