DataWhys 2021 Summer Internship Application
About the program
No background in data science is needed - interns will participate in the data science training program we are developing and work with faculty and graduate student mentors to develop their data science and professional skills, including how to research a topic, how to read a scientific paper, how to find a dataset, and how to present results.
The program is 8 weeks, from May 31, 2021 to July 23, 2021. Students should plan to be available for the entirety of the summer program in order to attend training at the beginning of the program and complete final projects at the end. Interns are expected to participate from 10 AM–4 PM, Monday–Thursday, with an hour for lunch.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The program is intended for rising college juniors and seniors from LeMoyne-Owen College. The program aims to expand undergraduate access to research, and as such past research experience is NOT a prerequisite. Furthermore, no background in data science or related fields is needed.
Applications will close at 11:59 PM CST on April 12, 2021. Each application should be supported by two letters of reference sent separately. All supplementary documents must be in PDF format and should be emailed to Andrew Olney (
