OFBF YOUNG AG PROFESSIONALS STATE COMMITTEE APPLICATION
ELIGIBILITY
Criteria for nomination:
• Between the ages of 18 and 34 years of age. Applicants must not have reached their 34 birthday before December 31, 2019.
• Current Ohio Farm Bureau member and active in county Farm Bureau.
• Couples must be a union recognized by the state.
• Past participant in one or more of the following Young Agricultural Professionals activities: an OFBF YAP Leadership Conference or Washington D.C. Leadership Experience, or a YAP contest
• From a county not currently represented on the committee.
• Previous Committee members are not permitted to apply for a second term.
• May not participate in a Young Agricultural Professionals Contest while currently serving on the committee.
• Deadline for applications are May 24, to your county office.
• Phone or in person interviews may take place in June.
RESPONSIBILITY
The Young Ag Professionals State Committee suggests, develops, and conducts activities that provide opportunities for young couples and singles to become involved in the programs of Ohio Farm Bureau (county, regional and state levels). Members also serve as Young Ag Professionals resource leaders to Farm Bureau and actively recruit and encourage Young Ag Professionals participation in Farm Bureau activities.

The committee works with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation staff to fulfill responsibilities. Planning and conducting Young Ag Professionals Conferences, contests and activities is a major committee activity as well as involving Young Ag Professionals in Farm Bureau activities in your region and county.

Young singles and married couples ages 18 - 35 are generally regarded as eligible to participate in OFBF Young Ag Professionals activities. The American Farm Bureau Federation age limit for the Young Farmer and Rancher program is also 35 years of age.

COMMITTEE STRUCTURE:
The committee is comprised of eight couples or singles, ranging in age from their twenties to 35 years old. The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Board of Trustees appoints them to a term that begins at the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting in December and expires two years later at the YAP Winter Leadership Conference in January. Four new couple(s) or single(s) are appointed each year.


MEETINGS AND ATTENDANCE
Members are expected to be present at all meetings and activities conducted by this team. Anticipated committee meetings are as follows:

 One day orientation meeting with all other new team members and Winter Conference planning (September 8, tentative)
 Two days during the OFBF Annual Meeting. Team duties are finished after the Harvest Banquet on Thursday. (Dec. 4-6, 2019)
 Optional-Attend AFBF Annual Meeting-(Second year committee members only) (January)
 YAP Winter Leadership Conference. The committee meets on Friday morning and returns home Saturday afternoon. (Jan 31-Feb 1, 2020)
 Optional – Attend the American Farm Bureau Young Farmer & Rancher Leadership Conference (First year committee members only). (March 2020 TBD)
 One day committee meeting to plan next Winter Leadership Conference. (Early March)
 Optional – Attending the Young Farmer DC Leadership Experience (Second year committee members only). (September)

The American Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Leadership Conference and Annual Meetings are held each year at different locations across the country. All committee members are invited to attend the YF&R Conference. Second year committee members are invited to attend the AFBF Annual Meeting and the Washington D.C trip.
OFBF will pay for room, registration, and transportation costs for team members to attend. Non-group meal costs will be expensed to OFBF.

EXPENSES:
Expenses for meals and lodging while committee members are engaged in the Young Ag Professionals State Committee activities are normally reimbursed. Mileage to and from official Young Ag Professionals State Committee functions is paid at the current IRS rate. Expense reports will be provided via Excel forms.
