UW S.E.E.D Scholarship

Applications for the UW S.E.E.D Scholarship Program are currently being accepted. Please submit all materials by May 1, 2015 by 5pm.

The S.E.E.D Scholarship aims to positively acknowledge the contributions of undocumented students enrolled at the University of Washington. This award recognizes UW students for their academic excellence, involvement in the community and demonstrated leadership.

The recipient will receive a one-time award, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, which will be dispensed in the 2015-2016 academic year. The award is made available through generous contributions to La Raza Commission and its constituents.

Recipients will be notified by May 10, 2015. To acknowledge these accomplishments and receipt of scholarship, recipients will speak at the DREAM Banquet on May 23, 2015 held at the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center. Further details will be provided with award letter.

Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements:
*Open to all undocumented students who will be registered full-time enrolled students at the UW during the 2015-2016 academic year. This includes current or incoming students, i.e. graduating high school seniors.
*Student demonstrates academic excellence.
*Student shows involvement and leadership abilities in school activities, community service and/or through work experiences.
*Student demonstrates financial need.
*Student must be available to attend and give speech at the DREAM Banquet on May 23, 2015 held at the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center.

Required Application Material:
1. School Transcripts (official or unofficial).
Submit transcripts to dreambanquetscholarship@gmail.com with subject, “Transcripts_UW SEED Scholarship 2015.”
2. One letter of recommendation (only one will be accepted).
Recommender must submit this letter separately to dreambanquetscholarship@gmail.com with subject, “Recommendation_UW SEED Scholarship 2015.”
3. Two essays of 250 words each that address the following:
-Personal hardship(s), and how have you overcome this?
-What are your career aspirations and how will this scholarship support your efforts?
4. Resume of extracurricular, community service or work activities and briefly describe your involvement. This should be separate from the above essay.

Complete applications are due by May 1, 2015 by 5pm.
