Citizen Science Association: Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity Mission Development
Hello IDE members! We are trying to finalize our mission statement for this working group. Please share your feedback in the following survey so that we can set our priorities as a group. Then we will followup with an open discussion of these results before we make this official.
For examples please check out the descriptions of other CSA working groups our sister group from the European CSA:

First off, please let us know what you think about this mission statement originally developed by this committee in 2015: "This committee will take responsibility for including diversity, equity and integrity in scientific research among the founding and guiding mandates of our association. We will also work with colleagues within and beyond our association to support and advance those mandates in practice."

We would like to address the potential risks for this committee, not just the benefits. Please let us know which risk disclaimers you agree with for our inclusivity, diversity, and equity working group. Feel free to add in additional comments about risks in the "other" section of this question.
To be effective, some of these conversations will be uncomfortable.
The working group may decide to decouple some of these issues and want to consider different names or words be used (including verbiage used by the association).
The membership of this working group may intentionally diverge from the current membership of CSA.
Effectiveness of this group will be a function of how willing and open the association is to change, including changes that redistribute power.
