Shadle's Stance
Shadle has a "Stance on Theological and Practical Issues" (always available on our Back Table in the Sanctuary) that includes, among other things, a Biblical traditionalist (Side B) understanding of Christian marriage as being between a man and a woman. This understanding of Scripture governs our teaching, practice of marriage, ordination, and who we invite into spiritual leadership. As many people in our congregation have shifted their feelings, attitudes, and Biblical interpretation on this over the years (towards Side A), Session is processing where to go next on this. We invite you to pray and talk with us as we discern the Holy Spirit's leading for our community. Below you will find two statements we've drafted -- frankly, we're not content with either one, and we'd like your help.

'Side B' Spend some time with the Holy Spirit in silence. Ask the Spirit to help you answer these questions:
1. What is the Spirit stirring in you as you read these statements? Hold anything that comes to you without judgment.

2. Where do you feel God’s presence in these statements? Where does God feel distant?
