CALL FOR GRAPHIC ARTISTS
DOWNTOWN BILLINGS MURAL APPLICATION: What makes you proud to be in Billings? Do you have a design that you believe would make a perfect mural downtown in the cultural core of our city? The Downtown Billings Alliance (DBA) and Big Sky Economic Development Agency’s Better off in Billings initiative are seeking artist submissions for a mural to depict whatever that means to you. Artists are invited to submit their perception of the theme "There's Space for you Here". Artists must enter their final graphic designs by 12:00 pm on Friday, March 29th. The winning design will be selected by a committee deemed qualified by the DBA and BSEDA. The selected artist will be notified by Friday April 12th and will then be responsible for providing an implementation plan by May 10 in order to install the mural the weekend of June 1, 2019.

I, "applicant" have applied to have my name, information and artistic materials made part of the Artists Registry maintained by the Downtown Billings Public Art Program. I understand that the registry is used by the Public Art Staff and Downtown Billings Alliance (DBA) in fulfilling DBA’s responsibilities in the Public Art Program established in The Downtown Billings Strategic Plan, and that among those responsibilities include selection of art works for placement in (or on) certain public buildings, structures and outdoor improvements; and conducting of public forums as part of the selection process.I further understand and, in consideration of the opportunity to be included in the Downtown Billings Public Art Program Registry, agree to the following:From time to time, samples of my work may be shown at public forums related to the Public Art Program;From time to time, members of the DBA Public Art Staff may discuss my work and artistic capabilities in forums that are open to the general public and in Public Art staff meetings;From time to time, the Public Art Staff may consult with or seek the advice of people in the Billings Arts community or elsewhere, concerning a specific Public Art Program project, the Program itself, my work and/or my artistic capabilities, and that these discussions may also involve showing of my work;Open, honest, frank discussions of art and artists – including, at times, discussion of my work and myself – are necessary and fundamental to the selection process.Participants in these public forums and other discussions must be free to express opinions and judgments without fear.I hereby release the City of Billings and the Downtown Billings Alliance, their officers, employees, agents and consultants, as well as any participant in any public forum conducted as part of the Downtown Billings Public Art Program, from any and all liability to me or my legal representatives for any statement, comment, opinion or judgment (expressed or implied), regardless of when or how made, concerning my artwork or artistic capabilities, and I waive any and all claims for any such liability, in perpetuity, for myself and my legal representatives.In no event will I undertake, seek or authorize any type of legal recourse against the Downtown Billings Association, any of its officers, employees, agents or consultants, or against any participant in any public forum conducted as part of the Downtown Billings Public Art Program, for any statement, comment, opinion or judgment expressed or implied concerning my artwork or artistic capabilities.
