Hello, you are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Ashwini T M and Rhea Rebecca Isaac under the supervision of Dr Swati Pathak from the Department of Psychology, School of Psychological Sciences at CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
This study aims to examine the predictive relationships between Sexual Fear of Missing Out (Sexual
FOMO), peer-pressure, self-esteem, and sexual guilt on premarital sexual behaviour among
emerging Indian adults.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for participation, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Emerging adults ages between 18-29 years.
2. Unmarried status.
3. Either in a relationship (sexually active) or sexually involved with someone within the past 1 year.
4. Voluntary consent to participate.
Risks and Benefits
There are no anticipated major risks associated with participation. However, some questions are related to personal beliefs and experiences regarding sexuality and sexual behaviour and reflecting on personal
beliefs or experiences related to sexuality may cause mild emotional discomfort.
If you experience any discomfort, you may feel free to take adequate breaks, or contact the helpline numbers mentioned below or discontinue participation at any point.
There are no direct personal benefits that you will gain from this study. However your participation will contribute to:
1. Better understanding premarital sexual behaviour and its impact on young adult's mental health in Indian context.
2. Development of culturally relevant and sensitive preventive mental health interventions.
Confidentiality
Your privacy will be strictly protected.
1. No identifying information will be published.
2. Email ID will be collected to maintain the authenticity of the responses, which will be protected with the access restricted to the researchers and the supervisor only.
2. Responses will be kept anonymous and the data will be stored in a password protected folder accessible only to the researchers and the supervisor.
3. Findings will be reported only in aggregated form for academic purposes and publications.
Voluntary Participation
Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw from the study at any time without any penalty or negative consequences.
