2021 APNET AfriFest Call for Volunteers
This annual festival celebrates African cultures in the local community, builds cultural awareness, and connects people to local resources. Our guests come together to celebrate unity in diversity. AfriFest is the largest African cultural event in the city. This family-friendly gathering occurs annually in the summer to celebrate Africa through cultural awareness, enhancing the community’s knowledge of the African cultures represented locally, and connecting individuals to resources in the community.

AfriFest is a free event showcasing African cultures, food, entertainment, kids/adult games, musical performances, cultural dances, vendors, arts/crafts, a health fair, job fair, tourism fair, and other fun activities.

When: Saturday, September 4th 2021 (Labor day Weekend)
Time: 1-7 pm EST

We are looking for volunteers to perform small tasks during the day of the event. AfriFest's success depends on people like you! We cannot do it without you. This is a quick form just to grab some additional information from you, particularly the volunteer role(s) you are interested in.

Please see below the AfriFest Volunteer Roles:
Day of Event - Saturday, September 4th 2021 (Labor day Weekend)
Set-up Team
Arrive the day of/before the event and help set up the tables and chairs in the resource tent, set up the field, hang signs and decorations, other logistics set up items.
Welcome & Registration Team
Help vendors set up and providing necessary materials; Welcome attendees, Ensure everyone is signs the Sign in sheet and gets a wrist band and navigate people; Promote APNET using brochures and other materials, T-Shirt sales; Encourage attendees to make a donation.
Games & Entertainment Team
Coordinate, facilitate and engage activities for attendees’ entertainment. Ensure safety of children’s activities; may need to remind parents that they are responsible for children. Provide crafts for the children and their parents to participate in.
Fashion Show Team
Responsible for the artistic style and direction of the show. Source clothes and work with designers through the development of the focus of the show. Recruit models for the fashion show. Make sure everything, from accessories to outfits, are appropriately assembled and ready for models to jump into before walking down the runway.
Photographer
Capture shots of attendees, memorable moments of the day such as: games, grilling in action, fashion show, dancing etc.
Floater
Fill in the gaps; assist where needed, run errands, or even take over a role for someone who didn’t show up.
Clean-up Team
The Clean-Up Team is responsible for cleaning up the event. Scan the entire area, throw away trash, and clean up any messes that might be present.
