Comments on American Rescue Plan Act and Updates to the Ready for Learning Plan
Governor Asa Hutchinson announced on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, that he was lifting the statewide mask mandate in Arkansas, effective immediately. After the press conference, schools were notified that this announcement DOES NOT change the guidance and recommendations for schools from the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) or Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) given under the public health emergency. Orders for social distancing and quarantines as a result of close contacts are still in effect. Both agencies strongly advise districts to continue to follow all measures that have allowed successful in-person learning to occur, such as distancing, mask wearing, hand washing, cleaning and maintaining of healthy facilities, and identification of close contacts.

Hermitage School District (HSD) adopted a Ready for Learning Plan for this school year in adherence to ADH, ADE, and CDC requirements or recommendations. The procedures and practices we have followed since the beginning of the year have helped prevent person-to-person spread of the virus among students and staff while at school.

HSD is in the process of updating our plan, preparing for the 2021-2022 school year, and ensuring compliance with new requirements under the American Rescue Plan Act. As we review our plan, we are seeking public comments, which will be taken into consideration by our administrative planning team, Ready for Learning Committee, and Board of Directors.

The opportunity for public comments on any aspects of this plan is available below. Please call the HSD Central Office at (870) 463-2246 if you would like to comment and are unable to submit your comments via this electronic survey.
