This form is to document and collect stories of hate incidents such as verbal or physical harassment due to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, ability or other identities in Berkeley following Trump's election. We want your stories – whether you're an observer/bystander, or the person targeted by the hate incident. By documenting and archiving these stories, we document evidence that can serve to create crucial policy changes.
Please note that this project is specifically to collect stories in Berkeley with the purpose of documenting what is happening here locally and making local change. We encourage you to submit your story to one of these other sites as well. there are many sites collecting stories of hate incidents such as (but not limited to):
-- Southern Poverty Law Center, #ReportHate Intake Form,
https://www.splcenter.org/reporthate -- Ushahidi USA Post-Election Monitor,
http://www.usaelectionmonitor.com/ -- Islamophobia Reporting App, Islamophobia Research and Documentation Center,
http://crg.berkeley.edu/node/1008 -- Council on American-Islamic Relations, Report an Incident,
https://www.cair.com/civil-rights/report-an-incident.html -- Other organizations: South Asian Americans Leading Together, Hindu-American Foundation
These may eventually be published in the media (e.g. Berkeleyside or Daily Cal) to document and publicize the wave of violence happening in the Bay Area and across the country.
We will NEVER share names or specific identifying details.
