The Bursary Grant is available for those students joining the Sixth Form and who must be aged 16 and under 19 years of age on 31st August in the year they start their course of study (for 2024/25 this is 31st August, 2024). There are two types of bursary, discretionary and full, which are explained below.
A ๐๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ is awarded at the discretion of the school to fit the needs and circumstances of the student. Our discretionary bursary will be targeted at students who face financial barriers, therefore household income will be a key determining factor. However, we will also look at need and the particular costs that an individual student may have. These bursaries are intended to help students meet the costs related to transport, books, equipment, field trips and other course-related costs and may also be used towards the costs of attending University interviews and open days
The ๐๐๐น๐น ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ (also known as a vulnerable bursary) of up to ยฃ1,200 is awarded only to those students who meet the following criteria, however please be aware that meeting these does not guarantee being awarded the bursary:
* Young People in Care or a Care Leaver defined as a young person who was previously looked after for a period of 13 weeks beginning ย after the age of 14 and ended after 16. Someone in care is defined as a child looked after by a local authority or placed with a Foster Carer by the Local Authority. ย A child who is privately fostered is not eligible.
* Young people in receipt of Income Support (or Universal Credit) in their own name.
* In receipt of Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit and Disability Living or Personal Independence payments in their own right.
