The Lake Champlain watershed drains an area of 8,234 square miles over two countries, with 3,050 square miles in New York alone. The watershed contains land in five counties with a mix of land uses including agricultural, urban, and forests, and home to beloved waterbodies such as Lake George, Ausable River, Boquet River, and Saranac Lake.
The high water quality of our waterbodies is essential to the health of our communities and bring enjoyment to residents and visitors alike. This survey aims to understand local perception of waterbodies, and identify existing and emerging impairments and how they are impacting our communities.
