The Benefits of Teaching Infants to Swim
An early start in swimming prevents aquaphobia and allows one to take advantage of the strong reflexes that babies are born with. In our baby and moms/toddler classes, Debby teaches in a loving and caring way through:
- Routine and Repetition
- Water Orientation
- Safety Skills in and around the Pool
- Skills and Preparation for Swimming Different Strokes
- Breath Control through Verbal and Physical Cues Prior to Submersion
Swimming with your baby has many great benefits, such as:
- Special and Uninterrupted Bonding Time with Your Baby
- Great for Coordination and Balance
- Builds Muscle Strength
- Improves Babies’ Sleeping Patterns and Appetite
- Builds Water Confidence
Mental and Cognitive Benefits:
- Improves Cognitive Functioning: Swimming involves bilateral cross-patterning movements, which help your baby’s brain grow by building neurons, especially in the corpus callosum. This can enhance reading skills, language development, and spatial awareness.
- Enhances Problem-Solving Skills: The multisensory experience of being in the water helps stimulate brain development, laying the groundwork for improved cognitive abilities later in life.
- Boosts Confidence and Self-Esteem: Mastering new skills in the water helps build confidence and self-esteem, which can translate into greater confidence in other areas of life.
- Reduces Stress and Anxiety: The rhythmic nature of swimming can be incredibly calming, helping to reduce stress and anxiety in infants.
- Promotes Social Interaction: Swimming classes provide a unique social experience, which can further boost brain development and social skills.
Classes are available as Groups, Semi-Private (2) and Private Lessons. Our schedules are Monday to Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm.
