Application Deadline: Extended to September 23rd, with interviews through September 8th until September 23rd. Fellows will be chosen by the next two weeks after the application closes.

Powered by Houston City Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas, AliefVotes is a 501(c)(3) program that empowers youth civic engagement in Alief, a community in Southwest Houston.
About the Fellowship: The AliefVotes Fellowship Program is a year-long intensive for students to receive interactive civic engagement training, leadership opportunities, and unique non-partisan government experiences.
This program is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience, resume-worthy skills, and further community within Alief through engaging and thoughtful civic engagement. No experience needed.
Students selected will:
- Receive a $250 stipend and merchandise at the end of the Fellowship.
- Learn about the enriching history and progression of the Alief community.
- Attend comprehensive civic engagement and leadership trainings in the fall semester. Topics include non-profit management, voter education, local governance, and community organizing.
- Be empowered to organize a community event in the spring semester, such as a voter registration drive, workshops, park clean ups, volunteering events, food drives, and more with a supplied budget.
- Meet community mentors—including elected officials, community leaders, business organizations, and non-profit staff for recommendation letters, relationships, and more.

Please take advantage of your stories and words to tell us why you should be a student fellow! Please be available for a youth workshop on Saturday, September 21st from 10 AM to 2 PM.
