Music Listening Habits Study Questionnaire

Thank you for participating in our survey. Our lab at McGill University in Montreal studies music and the brain ( We are interested in finding out more about how people start liking a piece of new music, why this is different for different people, and to what extent this is impacted by advancing media solutions.

Please note that providing your name and email address are optional and required only if you would like to be entered in a draw to win $100, so that we can notify you if you win. Each participant has equal chance of winning, which will depend on the total number of participants (chances of winning = 1/number of participants). There will be a second draw for an additional $100 for individuals who refer a friend to take the survey. Your referrals will be asked to enter your email address and with each additional referral you will get one additional entry into the second draw, which is separate from the first draw. You are eligible to win both prizes if your name is selected in both draws. Your chances of winning in the second draw will depend on how many of the people that you refer complete the survey as long as they enter your email address as their source of referral (chances of winning = 1/total number of referred participants that complete survey and enter their referrer’s email address). After data collection is complete, the researchers will randomly select a winner from each of the two draws and a gift card will be electronically sent to the winner’s e-mail address.

Please note that all information will be kept confidential, and your name and email address will be separated from your responses. The findings of the study (devoid of any personal information) will be summarized and may be presented at scientific conferences or published in a scientific journal.
