Joining a working group includes access to an open listserv in which members can send inquiries and responses to the entire listserv. CILA also uses this listserv as a place to provide details for working group meetings, relevant substantive updates, as well as advertise our trainings and other opportunities. Please note that this listserv is not open to employees of the federal government. We ask that members do not share information from the listserv to anyone outside of the listerv including media or government officials without permission from the sender. If you begin a job as an employee of the federal government, please remove yourself from the listserv.
The three working groups are:
-Texas Children's Asylum Working Group: meets via phone conference once a quarter to connect with attorneys on trends in adjudications of asylum at the Houston Asylum Office and in Texas Immigration courts
-Texas SIJS Working Group: meets via phone conference once a quarter to connect with attorneys on statewide trends in the adjudication of SIJS and related issues in immigration court
-Houston SIJS Working Group: meets in person once a quarter to discuss local trends in state courts and the Houston Immigration Court
