You are applying for a seat on the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council, in the city of Los Angeles, Ca. USA. This application must be completed and fully submitted by midnight on Sunday, July 1st, 2018. Your application will be reviewed and voted on at the July 5th, 2018 board meeting. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM, and is held at the Highland Park Senior Center at 6150 N. Figueroa St. Los Angeles, Ca. 90042. You will be given 1-2 minutes to make a statement about why you feel you are a good candidate for the neighborhood council. Once all the candidates’ statements have been heard, the board will take a vote to fill all open seats being considered. If you apply for two positions, you will be awarded the position you are able to secure the most votes for, provided you are in the majority. All winners awarded a position by the board must be verified and cleared by the City of Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment. New board members will be installed at the August 2nd, 2018 board meeting.

A position on the neighborhood council is an official office held in the city of Los Angeles, and requires personal commitment, attendance at monthly board meetings, and that you comply with all applicable ethics laws, code of conduct, and rules of order. In order to be eligible for a position on the board, you must be a stakeholder in the Highland Park Neighborhood Council’s jurisdiction. Stakeholders are defined as an individual who lives, works, owns property, or has a stake in the neighborhood (like attending school, for example). By submitting this application, you acknowledge that you understand these qualifications, and that you further understand the ethical guidelines of holding a public office, and are prepared to comply with those guidelines to the best of your ability. You also acknowledge that you have read this application thoroughly and understand the application and selection process. You further attest that all statements in this application are true to the best of your knowledge.
