On 21 October 1983, the General Conference on Weights and Measures adopted value for the speed of light. On the occasion of this anniversary, every year hundreds of activities are voluntarily organized around the world to promote photonics. 

This year we specifically encourage our members to promote how "cool" it is to work in photonics industry and at their companies by giving lectures their local schools/universities/etc. similar. This will empower the industry to attract more talents, who could help photonics companies to move forward and be competitive.
