We will be hosting our Virtual Fellowship Essay Workshop on Tuesday, October 21st from 5:00 to 6:30pm (new time). We are happy to report that 3 of 27 participants last year were awarded NSF GRFP fellowships, with 4 honorable mentions, thanks to our amazing mentors! Additionally, one participant received an NDSEG fellowship!
The
NSF published new guideline for the graduate fellowships today that affects who
should apply this year. https://www.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/grfp-nsf-graduate-research-fellowship-program/nsf25-547/solicitation#elig
In light of these changes, we are POSTPONING the
Workshop until October 21 from 5-6:30pm to accommodate the new November
deadline and allow people to regroup as follows:
- Second year graduate students are no longer
eligible to apply for NSF GRFP. However, if you qualify for NSF, you also
qualify for the NDSEG fellowship. Many of the same topics are supported by this
program, please plan to pivot to this or another fellowship program. https://ndseg.sysplus.com
Also consider writing initial Aims pages for an NIH F31.
- First-year graduate students MUST NOW APPLY for
NSF, or lose eligibility. Please work with your advisors to develop a plan.
Remember this does not have to be a project that you actually complete, but to
demonstrate your scientific potential.
- Undergraduates may apply as before.
Please consider alternate fellowships you can apply for. Here is a partial list Fellowships. Please add fellowships that you may know of.
Please write and upload drafts of the Research Plan and Personal Statement. Drafts must be submitted in advance and critiqued by mentors and peers at the workshop. Current NSF fellows can apply for additional fellowships and serve as mentors.
If you were or are a recipient of the NSF Graduate Fellowship or other fellowship and/or would like to assist as a mentor, please sign up through the google form.
