Projects are integral to STI course work as they generate new ideas and make teaching a dynamic profession. Projects fortify the learning of each participant and help them make specific connections between STI course content, student learning, and their own professional growth.

1. STI courses require original culminating projects, designed by coordinators, that demonstrate a mastery of the material and show participant achievement of course goals and objectives.

* Whenever appropriate, projects should integrate into classroom practice, should indicate how student learning will take place, and should be age and grade appropriate.

* Journal or research projects should demonstrate a depth of reflection on the course content rather than a summary of the course.

* Written projects must be a minimum of three pages, excluding booklists and bibliography.

* Participants in courses that produce projects of an artistic or technological nature should document their project through digital photos or project links and provide a brief explanation of the project.

* Each course requires a new, original project; projects should only be submitted once for credit.

* The same guidelines that apply to students regarding using citations and avoiding plagiarism in their work apply to STI course participants and their projects.

2. A project must be submitted with this form within 90 days of the end of the course.

3. Course coordinators evaluate projects and should give feedback/commentary to the participant via email or in person. Coordinators can refer projects about which they have concerns to the STI Director for a final decision about credit or stipend.
