2020 Health Career ConnectionsJanuary 20 -24, in Juneau
HEALTH Career Connections, a week-long residential program, introduces high school students to careers in the health care field. The program consists of classroom instruction, site visits to a variety of health care facilities, presentations from health care professionals and CPR training. This program is hosted by the Southeast Alaska AHEC and SERRC - Alaska's Educational Resource Center.

2020 Health Career Connections is FREE. The program will cover all instruction, accommodations, housing, transportation in Juneau, all meals, site visits, presentations by health care professionals. School districts will receive a travel stipend to cover some or all of the costs associated with traveling to and from Juneau.

Health Career Connections is open to high school students (9th-12th grade). District teams are comprised of up to five students and a chaperone. Chaperones must be school employees, teachers or counselors preferred. Chaperones are required to participate in the program along with being responsible for their students at night. Students can earn up to one UAS credit for their participation in this program. All teams must arrive in Juneau on January 19 and depart after 1 pm on January 24, 2020.

Letter of Intent Deadline: November 15, 2020. School district teams will be accepted on a rolling basis. School districts are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

The Southeast Alaska AHEC will offer school districts a travel stipend for each participation that can pay for some or all of the travel costs to and from Juneau (depending on location of participants). Please include the estimated cost of travel for each participant. District teams need to arrive in Juneau on Sunday, January 19, and depart no later than Saturday, January 25. Teams that can travel from Juneau to their community on January 24 (program ends at 1 pm) must arrange travel for that day. This information is REQUIRED to be considered for this program. *
