Parents and students, please read the digital syllabus for Theatre Arts. There will be a total of 3 sections, so please read through carefully.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is designed to help students develop their acting skills and learn the fundamentals of theatre. In exploring dimensions of theatrical self-expression, this course will employ lecture, discussion and classroom activities to raise issues that stretch self-awareness through dramatic interaction involving imagination and creativity. Each participant works at his or her own level with no comparison to other members. Group cooperation, relation to others and self-awareness will be enhanced by speaking and performing before an audience.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop fundamental skills in the multiple elements of theatre as a collaborative art. Students will have exposure to the following:

• acting and characterization
• movement and vocal production
• pantomime and improvisation
• theatre terminology
• theatre history and influences
• technical theatre and design
• playwriting/script elements
• audience etiquette
• roles and careers in theatre arts
• relationships between theatre arts and other subject areas

THEATRE PAYMENT

Please have no later than Friday, September 18th

This is optional but if your child would like to attend the field trips, have a t-shirt, etc. there is a $20 payment. These supplies are bought through the Theatre Department Boosters. Payment can be made by PayPal, money order, check, or Square Up (credit cards).

Also needed:
1- Mouse (For Chromebook-optional)
1- Earbuds OR Headphones
