ZACH's Junior Counselor Application 2017
The Junior Counselors Program is a volunteer opportunity for high school students, ages 14 to 19, interested in helping to create amazing theatre experiences with pre-school and elementary age children.  Participants will learn the ins and outs of a professional theatre training program while aiding students' creation of original stories, characters, and design elements.

All junior counselors will be assigned to a group of campers and will assist the classroom teacher with rehearsals and production for the week. This program gives participants the opportunity to serve as a role model and leader for younger campers. It is a great opportunity for teenagers interested in working with children and/or theatre—not to mention a fun and interactive way to earn those much needed volunteer hours!

Daily hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. with one Extended Care shift until 5:30 p.m. per week. All applicants who are accepted into the program are only required to participate 1 week. However, if you would like to participate for multiple weeks you are welcome to do so.

If selected to participate in the program, you must attend a mandatory orientation meeting (including all returning applicants). It will be a short overview program expectations and procedures. To make sure everyone can attend, you can choose from one of the following 3 dates: Monday, May 22nd or Friday, June 2nd from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Main Campus or Friday, May 26th from 6 - 8 p.m. at the ZACH North location.

NEW THIS YEAR: applicants have the option to volunteer at either our Main Campus located on the corner of Riverside and South Lamar at 1510 Toomey Road or our NEW ZACH NORTH CAMPUS located on the corner of 183 and 620 N at 12129 RR 620 N. Please make sure to select which campus you would prefer to volunteer in the form below.

*** PLEASE NOTE*** Most dates are waitlist at this point, but we still need help the last three weeks of the summer. You are welcome to be placed on the waitlist for any week this summer, but I can only guarantee you a spot during the last three weeks of the summer. However, you must submit a letter of recommendation to kshaw@zachtheatre.org, or mail/drop them off at our office located at 1510 Toomey Road, Austin, TX 78704.

For any other questions or concerns, please contact Kate Shaw-Nappi at kshaw@zachtheatre.org or by phone at (512)476-0594 x218.
