ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ 18ರ ಲೋಕಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ 52% ಮತದಾರರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಡಿಮೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಮತದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರೆ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಹಲವಾರು ಕಾರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿವೆ. ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ತಪ್ಪು/ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ, ಇರುವ ಮತದಾರರ ಹೆಸರು ಅಳಿಸಿ ಹೋಗಿವೆ. ಮತದಾರರು ದೀರ್ಘಾವಧಿ  ರಜೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಳಸಿದರು, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜನ ಬೇಜವಾಬ್ದಾರರಾಗಿದ್ದು ಮತದಾನ ಮಾಡಲು ಇಚ್ಛಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ... ಮುಂತಾದ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಗಳಿವೆ.
ಹಾಗೆಯೇ, ಮತದಾರರ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುವಿಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ಹಲವು ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸೂಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಡ್ಡಾಯ ಮತದಾನ, ಮತ ಚಲಾಯಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ, ಮತದಾರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯ ಮರುಸೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಮತದಾರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಧಾರ್ ಜೋಡಣೆ, ಹೀಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳು...

Only 52% of Bengalureans voted on 18th April for LokSabha elections. There are different reasons being given by politicians and other organisations for this low voter turn-out. The electoral list is not clean and has lot of wrong entries. Voter's name were deleted. People went on vacation because of long weekend. Bengaluru citizens' are lazy, do not come to vote, not responsible, etc.
Many solutions have also been suggested to improve voter turn-out such as compulsory voting, incentivise voting, cleaning up of voter list, linking Aadhar to voter list etc.
